Takako COCO Kanai is a Tokyo-based photographer.
Born in Kumagaya, Japan, she developed her passion for photography while studying theatre arts in New York,
starting with street photography before stepping into the fashion world.
Drawing inspiration from late-1990s Japanese pop culture and her formative years in New York,
her work captures the distinctive attitude of her subjects.
With a background in theatre, COCO approaches her subjects with a strong sense of narrative.
Her artistic pursuit centers on imperfect perfection, constantly seeking to capture "the moment in between."
