Takako COCO Kanai is a Tokyo-based photographer.
Born in Kumagaya, Japan, she developed her passion for photography while studying theatre arts in New York,
where she began experimenting with street photography. This pursuit soon led her into the fashion world.
Her work explores themes of freedom, rebellion, and independence, drawing inspiration from late-1990s Japanese pop culture and her formative years in New York.
With a background in theatre, COCO approaches her subjects with a strong sense of narrative, framing each image as part of a larger story.
